Napowrimo Day #20

I continued working with Barbara Guest and my father’s name, but today I tried the same method I used on Day #16. The poem below consists only of words that could be created from the letters in my father’s name, pulled from Guest’s poem “The Location of Things.” Almost all her words had letters my father’s name did not have, so I was left with very little.

seem the am
to someone
enters the bar me
the art
the street
the street bears
another barroom
to get the many times*
one has seen smoke
on her makes see
someone on my arms
shako as am not

[*oops – I let an “i” sneak in]

I was curious whether I would feel restricted with a different Guest poem and so tried the next one, “Piazzas.” The experience was the same. Guest seems to like d’s and p’s and i’s!

the on by the
the berry a taste
as those that the heart
see as much there
to remember that those
see the then met
they that by stones
the one that he
the stone as a tomb
or sheer to no one
