My journey to this poem involved taking the Mary Shelley piece [How like a star you rose upon my life], putting it through the Dada Generator, and then doing some significant editing. I’ve been interested in the Oulipian N + 7 lately, but rather than count seven nouns down, I’ve just been browsing in the area of the target word until inspiration strikes, and the new word may not even be on the page. I think this needs some revision, but it’s something I can work with.

Thus casting you star
uprise eve
swell and eclipse green
fled descended night-hour
your moon-gilded fear
o’er wee cheerless they fair linger
swift the still
my was
my love-star
my fallen beams
for their pour silver you morning every power
to another at radiance
rose shedding my you
and mighty and shed
elsewhere and my
strife your heart apart
light yet turbid real
