Another diastic today (see yesterday’s poem). This one was done by using my father’s first and last name to search through the boating magazine Soundings (all text: ads, masthead, footer, etc…) Normally I would title this with his name, but I’m going to leave that out so it’s not readily searchable. I don’t think this poem was as good as yesterday’s, but I found some interest in playing with the elements I had control over: line breaks, punctuation, spacing (I may play more in the future with moving some lines out from the left-hand margin). This has also been an interesting, perhaps grounding, way to approach some big feelings obliquely, as our family navigates a difficult time.
